After a 5 year hiatus I finally have another tank . Much much smaller than I'm used to but it'll work. So I'm curious about these SunSun canister filters, are they any good?

Depends on who you ask. IMO, they're good for the price, but after using one, I'd probably save up some money (if necessary) and get a Fluval or eheim, instead.

Love them. I have two Sunsun 302 canisters. One has been in service since 2013, the other 2015. Not that this time frame speaks volumes for reliability, but for ~$40 shipped to the door with media, so far so good.

I'm torn between that and two penguin 350s. It's a 75g bow front. Will be heavily stocked

I went with the sunsun 302. I'm going to add another later on or possibly a HOB as secondary.

Well, I haven't had a Sun Sun or Penguin, but I like 2 filters on most all my tanks of whatever brand. Aqua Clear is my fav brand of HOB.

What kind of stocking are you thinking of? That can make a big difference in filtration choices.

Lots of African cichlids
