I had 2 credit cards at 16, till this day i never use cash unless i have to. Almost 21 and credit score of 775-so its doable, but yeah dont get them without money to back them up :idea:

I'd save my money, I've been saving for a saltwater setup for a 75G I have sitting around, been saving for about a year now.
Another place to check is local freecycle lists. There are several around me, and its not limited to fish stuff. Go to yahoo and look up freecycle, there are yahoo groups all over the country. Once in a while used aquarium stuff comes up. I got a free 55gal with a hood, just needed some cleaning up.

but yea, if you get a credit card without having money, you're in trouble. yea so what if I'm in Canada, I'm sure that in the U.S. Credit companies look at past credit too, and if you couldn't pay up past bills, you may have trouble getting morgages and stuff.

but yea, you probably won't get much from selling fish. fish stores usually won't pay money for them, they just want you to donate them. what kind of set up are you thinking of? and what size tank do you have now? some set ups should be pretty cheap, like tetras and stuff. there aren't many inexpencive ways to keep fish though...
Getting into debt is the American way as long as this debt will produce you income. Loaning money to build a building and rent it out like what Donald Trump does is the American Way and perfectly acceptable. Commiting financial suicide by charging up credit cards to build the "perfect" aquarium is not the american way and just plain stupid.

Exactly. It's scary how easy it is to get a credit card. It can be very handy to have, but you need the income to back it up...and it's best to pay off the balance each and every month. If you can't manage a credit card wisely, then a personal loan is a better choice (if you really, really need to borrow money)...lower interest rate, scheduled repayment, and, provided you pay on time, will show positively on your credit rating.
