Im going to vent my jack dempsey... a question before I do

Realize that this process is very stressful for the fish and if you are doing it just to know I personally wouldn't recommend it. Just my opinion.
 
Doesnt it "bug" you when you dont know the gender of your fish? It looks so much like a morph between a male and female and Im determined for find out for sure some how.

Female (7.5") notice the thicker body, the color on the gill plate and the more verticle dorsal and anal fins.

Male (5") notice the more elongated body, no color on the gill plate and the dorsal and anal fins that are more extended.

I tried to get them in similar shots so you can see the differences more clearly. JD's really aren't that hard to sex at all.

They are guaranteed male and female since I had a batch of fry last week. (They ate 'em, but many more are on the way.)

I tried to get some shots of the vents while they were breeding but it is dang tricky. I'll try again here soon.
