im a betta owner! Tankmates? Now with pics on 2nd page!!

Hey guys you can now consider me a betta owner. Today i had went to my LFS and off in the corner i saw this white/silver fish in a little 1/5 gallon bowl. I had never seen a white/silver V-tail and for $3.00 why not. I got him home and stuck him in my 5 gallon tank already cycled and ready to go. He loves it and is very happy. Could i keep something else in there with him?( not another betta with divider) He seems pretty nice considering i stuck a mirror up to the tank and he did nothing. Just kept swimming all over.

So could i keep anything(s) with him???

Bettas do fine with other fish. They are great for a community tank with non-agressive fish that are large enbough not to be one of his meals. I keep mine with guppys, swords, platies, zebras, cory cats, and plecos. Just don't put another betta in with him. The males will fight over territory and if you put a female in with him, he will want to spawn. That is not a good idea in a community tank.

Its just that in a 5g, I can't think of any fish to live peacefully with a Betta, there may be some, but I can't think of any. Besides, ADF's are great companions for bettas, very cool to watch.

How about 3 or 4 pgmy cories? They spend much more time swimming around midwater than their larger counterparts. Very interesting fish as well.

Quite small, too. Only about a little more than an inch long.

African Dwarf frogs are very interesting as well. You should definetely look into them. When I got mine, I was addicted and wanted more! :)
