im now a betta owner! Tankmates?

some of your tetras like cardnels or even the white cloud minnows would make nice additions with betta.

I would try to stay away from putting any schooling fish in a 5g. They are much happier with a min. of 6 fish. That along with the betta would be overloading the tank. ADF's are a great choice, maybe 3 of them. That's what I have in my 6g, 1 male betta and 3 ADF's. Hope this helps ;)

hey everyone. I went up to the LFS and looked at there frog tank. They had 2 small 3/4 inchers and some different bigger ones about 1 1/2 inches. I got the 2 small guys and so far so well.

i just got done setting up a 5gal last week its a betta duplex for my cambodian and crowntail. it was kind of hard since i hade to make the divider and there were small gaps the the betta's could get through so there was a short fight between them but i filled in all the gaps and now its really nice looking there 2 adfs in it and the smaller one seems to get around the divider but every one is happy. its planted and i plan on getting some more small plant in there an eventuly some ghost shrimp.

wow, sounds like you got a good setup shadrac. I noticed when i was looking for a divider for my 5 gallon a while back they didnt make any. Hey guys how do you post pics. I tried a while ago using the attachment button and all it said was the picture had to many pixels. I turned my cameras quality all the way down but it still was to big. What do i do??

My betta and two ADF's. The betta nipped one of the frogs and now their hiding but dont worry the frogs are fine.

oh and in the the pictures the tanks look like theirs crap flyin around everywhere. Its not crap its just bubbles bein pushed around the tank.

I may be droppin those pgmy cories and gettin more ADF's. Well as long as my betta wont nip them when there in the open. Id like to see them swim around.

jfyi, many betta enthusiasts say a 5 gal is a minimum tank size for a betta alone. others argue that a 5 gal isnt enough and a 10 gal is the minimum, with maybe 3 corys, 3 otos, a couple snails, or a few shrimp. you should not put guppys or groumis with a betta since the betta can mistake guppys for another betta, and goroumis fight with bettas.

i think that 5 gals is good for a betta and maybe an oto or two, maybe a snail or two, or a couple shrimp instead of the otos, but thats jmo
