We have good social workers at our hospital. They track the unfit mothers listed with DCFS and when they come in and deliver the baby goes straight to DCFS custody. Not everyone does this, which is how they get in, have another and take it home to neglect/abuse.

The biggest shame in this world is people like this that have kids...and treat them like this, and the people who are childless, or unable to have the number of kids they want because of problems that would love, cherish and provide for this baby. Biggest proof I know of that life is not fair.

This is something that hits all too home for me. I don't know whether to feel saddened or angry in regards to the manner in which people care for their children. Unfortunately it's not something in the cards for us, it just doesn't seem right that others are given the option to, and care as little as they do.

Not too long after Detriot opened up their casinos, a woman was charged with leaving a child in the backseat of her car (extreme summer conditions) while she gambled.

I'm so glad that there are people who will report these happenings. It's unfortunate that most times it's too late.

Reading stories like these make me cry. Really.
