I'm starting to think it's not a JD?

the body looks like a TX shape to me as well. The Colors look like a male JD. I agree with the above posts about it looking like a Hybed.

males dont have speckles on the gill plates
 
but females dont have the coloring on their bodies. I think thats the TX Cichlids face. I would still guess its a male.

Take a close look at the colors of the blue sparkles. They are differant on the face.

I could be wrong becaue the flash might be discoloring the sparkles from that angle.

females have the same coloring as males, thats why the only way to sex them is by looking at the gills

in the first picture, the camera is focused on the face, and becuse they used the flash..the speckles came out gold

now look at the second picture, its at an angle, so the flash has a wider range, and the speckles match the body color

fins aren't pointed either....its a female
