Impulse rescue.... oops help

eventually you should raise the salinity higher than 1.005. At least 1.010 would be better as it is much more of a marine animal than freshwater.

Agreed. In order to set up a brackish tank for your Eel you will need a device for measuring salinity (hydrometer or refractometer), marine salt (sea salt or table salt will not create the right conditions, they lack the salts and minerals in marine salt) and some patience.

When you've got those vital pieces of equiment, only then can you really create a brackish tank. You will want to bring up the salinity slowly. Don't add the salt straight to the tank, and make sure your moray is feeding throughout, once they go off their food, they're difficult to get back on it.

well we havent seen him eat yet but hes larger then we thought, roughly between 18-20"s. we just got him settled into his new home today, one feeder goldfish and about 5 small guppies to see if he snacks. a few nice rock caves a piece of PVC pipe to help comfort him. i have a extra box of instant ocean from an old SW setup and a hydrometer. going to be adding salt very slowly starting within the next 7-14days. gunna let him settle in first. I was wondering about new additions to the tank suchs as bumblebee gobies and mono sebae's

The eel will eat the gobies. Mono Sebaes should be large enough so the eel doesn't eat it. Eels can't see too well so the eel might accidently bite another fish thinking it is food.

There is nothing wrong with raising the SG slowly--even .001/week or less.

ok so if i raised the salinity what should it be too before adding any monos. how many can i have in a 55g and/or what other fish

I wouldn't keep monos in a 55g. They are schooling fish & grow to about 1 foot. You'd need at least a 300g for a school of them.
