well i ditched the marine idea and thread i started there.
i decided to use the tank as a grow out tank so will do a quick build thread here.

first i built the stand, fitted the top then sealed it with stain, i also used PVA the stick the add a wooden floor underlay which will act like the polystyrene most people use for any imperfections between tank and base, its also a water barrier but its not realy for that.

i then added the framework needed to hold the doors for access to the tank in the area i had made.
i also added small batons to hold the light fixtures and drilled a whole through the wall into the cupboard under the stairs as i had a socket added in there for the tank electrics.

i bought the wood needed to make the doors and cut them to size.
i had to drill the doors to accept the hinges, i used hinged that had adjustment to get decent shut lines once the doors are fitted
i then test fitted the doors and fitted the lights

i then primed and painted the doors on both sides, the paint is the same paint used on my walls.
i primed and sanded with a brush but painted the top coat with a roller as i used this on the walls and wanted the same finish.

the filler strips needed cutting and test fitting, we then painted them and stuck them to the framework with no nails

i then added sand and a few fish were added yesterday.
i will be using an FX5 filter which was half filled with new media and half filled with media from one of my other FX5's.
i only need to add a peice of skirting to the bottom of the stand and will do that this weekend when i am off again.
