incandescent/flouresant

You get more light for the same wattage :)
I use spiral compact fluorescents over my 10g and 14g tanks (details are in my sig. link). If you want to use them for plants, try to find something between 5000K and 10 000K.

Let me try to rephrase my question....

I have a 10 gallon aquarium with an incandescent hood. Right now it has 2 incandescent bulbs in it. Problem is if i leave the lights on for more than a 1/2 hour the temperature starts to increase....fast. I want to be able to leave the lights on more often, plus i want to begin growing plants. 20 minites of light a day will not help the plants too much. So my question is can i just put flourescent bulbs into this hood without changeing anything else? Or will it cause the bulbs to over heat and burn out or some thing?? So basically is it safe?? And if not what is the cheapest way i could make it safe to switch to flourescent?
