Is there a major difference between these bulb types? I'm either going to buy or build a hood for the 10gal I got yesterday but I'm unsure of what kind of lighting I can use. If I buy a hood I'm limited in wattage because of the plastic (warpage due to heat =
) but if I make one I can do one of two things: create a wooden hood (no warping, slats + fans for cooling) that spans the length of both tanks and holds a light or two with actual wattage or make two seperate hoods.
So I guess the question is this: which bulb type is best for plant growth, minimal heat, and outputs white light?
I'm just curious what I would need for good plant growth in a 10gal I want to plant with java moss, Riccia fluitans, and hornwort (picky plants I know
). I know the current lighting isn't working because I had a hornwort fall apart (literally) in my tank today and after that enjoyable clean up job I figure I'd rather have my plants live.
Edit: Since I already have a hood on 10gal #1 would installing these be okay for plants? I'd like to get above 3wpg if possible, but I'm not sure if that would be healthy for the tank.
