Inconsiderate Roommate

Yup, having roommates can be tough. I've grown apart from good friends because we lived together. I hope your d. erythromicrons & betta pull through!

Who the heck turns the thermostat down to 65?? Mt husband's friend in NC leaves his at 70 all year & I need to wear layers+socks when we visit. Can't imagine the 60's, ugh.

ME! :hi: turn mine up to 68 and you can bet i'll be nekid all day long... and complaining about the heat. :rant2: that's one reason i haven't posted in this thread yet. while i understand caring for the fish... i come first in my book. i'd be peeved either way... make my fish suffer too cold... or me suffer too hot and the deal's off... i'm moving. :thumbsup:

kind of a tough spot, really. i do completely understand about inconsiderate roommates, though. it's tough to find one that's not, really.

Yup, still quibble with the spouse about whether the A/C should be set to 74 or 73. (preferably off, in my case - preferably with an added fan, in his) :silly:

plenty of hoodies, throw blankets and snuggies to go around in my house. i understand my temp preference is far from usual. ;)

I do the same. I cannot stand to be hot, it's horrible. I would rather be freezing than too hot! It is very tough to find good roommates, and I would leave my heater plugged in 24/7, like I do. That way, no problems. It could have been avoided with a plugged in heater!!

A 25W standard heater is BIG for some nano tanks and if it ever failed in the ON position, on a 5G or less sized tank, it would severely overhead the tank. 25W heaters were made for 10G tanks... maybe a little smaller but not for much smaller tanks.

All that was available for a long time were the little flat black plastic heaters (like this http://www.fosterandsmithaquatics.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3578+3743+12087&pcatid=12087) that could be hidden under the gravel or some would stick it to the side of the tank. They did not have thermostats and only warmed the water up around 4F above ambient temperature.

Now that nano tanks are becoming popular, they are coming out with smaller standard heaters with thermostats.

Thanks for the links! I'm going to see if I can find some locally.

It's not just the fish I worry about (who have pulled through), but myself. I have a genetic disease called Raynaud's Syndrome. Basically, everything feels 10 degrees colder to me than the average person. I get frostbite at 40. Almost lost my right hand once because of it. If I'm exposed to temperatures too low the blood literally stops flowing to my extremities and my core temp. plummets rapidly. Needless to say, I hate winter.
 
you kindly kick him out of the apartment? Thus, solving any future problems with roomies who freeze the house. Or, heaters are a good option. Or, a second roomy who likes warm rooms thus someone else to combat the evil cold weather liking roomy.
