Hi,
I am based in East Central Indiana. I gave up my previous large tanks of Lake Malawi cichlids and seperate tank of Oscars in about 1989 in the UK and have just taken the plunge again with a tiny tank - 10 gallons - to get my hand in again. I am just starting with a small community tank. It kindof happened by accident...I spotted the newish glass tank, with hood, florescent lamp, heater, air pump, several power heads, gravel, under-gravel filtration system, gravel, plants, water conditioner, fake rocks and an external Second Nature WDF 3000 filter system fat Goodwill for $14.99! It was a deal too good to pass up!
It'll be a time before I start introducing fish, once things have settled a bit. Blue gravel wouldn't be my normal choice - I favor naturalistic settings - but I have added some live plants and a decent fake log with hiding places, a PH gauge and a stick-on thermometer, plus a plain blue background (which I had cut about 2 inches too short because I didn't write down the dimensions of the tank before heading for Pet Smart in Muncie!!! Duh! Oh well, I can use blue masking tape as a work around!
My wife has already picked out a few inhabitants, but obviously, this won't be heavily populated.
Anyway, glad to have found this site and look forward to reading old threads (and new ones). Cheers!:newbie:
