My lfs sold this fish to me labeled bristlenose pleco. I thought it looked different but I havent been able to find any more info then a picture on planet catfish. I am aware that there are different types of bristlnose and this one is one. But I would like some more info on this particular one. I tried google but couldn't find anything on it.

Unfortunately, there a many, many ancistrus species, with more being discovered all the time. Many of the captive bred stock will hybridize, resulting in a mix of fish that can't be readily identified. If you post a pic, you're more likely to have some success since someone may recognize your fish as one we can identify.
I have at least 3 types of ancistrus--one sold as a bristlenose, two sold as a dwarf red bristlenose, and one with the stunningly helpful name "Ancistrus". They look similar in body shape, but have very different coloration, and only one has any of the characteristic bristles.

That is a lovely place...look at the profile of the Corydoras ambiacus and you might see a somewhat familiar name! 
After looking at some pics from planet catfish I think it is a Ancistrus sp. (8)
I still can't find a common name for it.

Mine has the same pattern and has the white tips at the end of its tail fin.
I think it might be a female since the tenticles are short.
If anyone knows its common name let me know please.

After looking around I found the Ancistrus sp. (8) is a new species and it goes by the name of ancistrus claro. Its common name is gold marble bristlenose pleco. It tends to change colors based on its surrounding which I have noticed. The only thing that is different is I havent seen the slight golden coloration. This could be just due to it always being in camoflauge.
