Info Request: Riccardia chamedryfolia

I was able to pick a handful of this stuff up for only 300 yen because it fell of the piece of driftwood it was attached too.

Does anyone now about this particular moss? I tied to a rock with some moss cotton. Will it stick?

Here is a picture of what it looks like in my tank. Its tied down with Moss Cotton.

It is not a moss, it is actually in the fern family~
It is also called susswassertang <although you can sometimes see it as subwassertang, but that is incorrect> It was, in the past, confused with Pelia, <a liverwort> but if it feels rigid to the touch <almost like plastic film> that is what it is. You can tie it down like you did and it will fill up. It is a rare and pretty plant. I have some to :dance2:

Yeah it was hard, made a crunching sound as I was tying it down. How long will it take to sprout and settle in on the rock?

well riccia doesn't actually attach to anything, just looks nice and eventually with new growth u may have to retie it.....beautiful plant though

Thank you Bkw, but its not the riccia your thinking of. Check the photo. This stuff was originally attached to a piece of drift wood.

Yeah, I don't know much about it. The Deutsch have the most info on it I've seen and its all in german. I like it too... I got it dirt cheap.

A friend of a friend ID'd this .... susswassertang is what it is called.
It takes a while...loves light and CO2.
Keep it ited down. It will attach over time.

I failed with this stuff. I still have a little of it hanging on to a piece of wood. Still watching and waiting.
