I'm reposting because I'm desperate-
I have a balloon molly who has had a bite taken out of her side- she is in a tank with 3 other mollies and one of the other females and this one get into it once in a while-
My balloon has an avulsion on her L side- it looks like someone just took a chunk out of her, right under her fin- she doesn't use that fin much at all- actually I think she has no control of it- the nick in her side is about 1/8inch wide- and deep-really deep- right next to her gill- yet she is eating, swimming happily around the tank like nobody's business, comes up to greet me when I go to the tank...etc. She does tend to hide from the black molly a little more than usual-
My QUESTION is when a fish is this injured would i just stress her out more by quarantining her, so I can treat her prophylactically(sp?) with antibiotics, or should i just let her be and treat the whole tank with antibiotics or salt -Will a wound like that heal? It is so deep I am amazed she didn't die- it looks impossible- a gash- I wondered if she got stuck somewhere and hurt herself - but i have seen the black molly and this one fight- they latch on to each other with their mouths and this is right where the black molly latches on---
any ideas will be greatly appreciated! It isn't sore looking- just white- no red-
Also, all other fishies are healthy and happy.
I tried and tried to get a picture but to no avail....
