I'm more than a little concerned about him. I just noticed this tonight and he seems healthy otherwise (although he is shyer than usual). Could this be agression or a disease?

My other blue ram has a small spot, not sure what it is and it doesn't seem to bother him, but I'm curious all the same:

The tank setup for a while was 6 rams, 10 danios, 2 pictus. The pictus ate all but two of the danios and 1 gold ram and 1 male ram died from an extremely mysterious sudden drop in PH (from 6.8 to below 5!!). What it sat at for a while was 4 rams, 2 danios, and the two pictus. Today I added 10 lemon tetras (they seem pretty aggressive towards the rams, could they have done that?), 4 small rainbow fish and 2 large rainbow fish. They all seem to be getting along fine.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

it could have been other fish in the tank that caused the injury, directly by fighting or indirectly by chasing and causing the ram to go cruising for a bruising on some rock or decor.

as for the white spot on the tail fin of the other.... i'm not 100% certain, but it looks kinda fungusy to me. i'd up you water change schedule as you don't want that white spot to start creating any rot on the fins if it's apt to do so.

The spot does not look like fungus at all. It could be a localised bacterial infection.

Thanks guys, I'll up my water change schedule. Any recommendations for helping the wound heal?

i personally wouldn't do anything except provide clean water via increased water changes. it looks to be mostly a superficial scrape and from what i've experienced those kind of owies heal fairly quickly.

i would monitor carefully though, to make sure there are no secondary infections or complications from his owie.

Unfortunately, I found him dead the morning after. :(

I'm treating the other ram with melafix and increased water changes. I went to the LFS and they all look really rough so I don't think i'll be getting more blue rams till they get a better shipment.

Thanks for the help all
