does anyone use inline heating on there canister return tubbbing? if so have problem or benifites over in tank heaters?
They heat the water with elements like those found in the rear window defrosters of a car.I really dont know if they are cheaper to run or not but I do know they are a much better choice for a natural tank and to offer a better more even heat to the entire tank. They are also a great choice for tanks with rammy fish such as big cichlids as they are not in there to be broken by the brutes. And no,they would not reduce the flow of the filter as they are actually bigger inside the unit then the id of the feed/outlet line.Which is another reason they heat the water as quicly as they do.I might be a bit dense as I am having trouble seeing a financial advantage of inline. Just the way the water flows leaves me to believe that the heater would run longer (higher cost too). Sure could use some clarification on them.
