Input on SA/CA Cichlids for my tank :)

Small-medium colorful cichlids that like hard water, I can hook you up with some juvie oblongums. I have a brood of them scattered among 3 tanks growing out now, and they're large enough to ship well (1"+.) Males max out around 5", females 4". Very mellow temperament, get along with anything (aside from other oblongums after they mature) too big to eat that won't beat them up. I also have waay too many juvie cutteri, about 2" now, that will be pairing off in another month or two.
Here's a pic of the oblongum's daddy. Females look almost the same, just have shorter dorsal and anal fins.

Thanks for the input.

I didn't even think about putting something after redtail, it is a shark. Still young (not even 2" yet). Sorry about the mix up.

I do keep in mind that fish of the same species can be very different (why I tend to lean away from the typically more aggressive fish for this tank), it is always somethign to consider.

I googled oblongum and cutteri, I am not familiar with the 2. Therefore, I am assuming they are different, both beautiful fish though. I will be sending you a message (if I can figure it out) Toddnbecka with additional questions at some point today.

And the plecos, they are only in that tank for a short period of time. I had them because they were on sale, and I needed another hardy cycling fish. They have a home for when they get rather large.

Thanks for all of your input!

Thanks for all of your input! I got my fish today and will post pictures/details when I have them, don't wanna leave the lights on on them right now, plus its late. Looking forward to sharing!

What did you decied to get in the end?

I will be posting pictures later today (hopefully). My LFS is a family owned place, I love it there. I took a list of the fish I was interested in and went over it with him, taking all of your advice with me and I ended up with (hopefully male/female combinations, hard to sex young ones though): 2 Green Severums, 2 Green Terrors (One has AMAZING color for juvi, just wait for pictures), and 2 Firemouth Cichlids. The tank is very active and the fights for territory have begun, fun to watch. Like I said, later today I will take pictures and post them!

Thanks for all of your help!

Something is going to have to move out of that tank sooner or later, particularly if you do happen to end up with an established pair. Severums grow a bit large for a 55, and a pair of firemouths (most likely to pair off with a random m/f) will claim an entire 4' tank when spawning/raising fry.

Yeah but for now if there juvis grow them out a decied what you like best then keep those two. Your going to have a lot of problems if you keep all of those together in a 55 gallon for life.

Oh yea for sure, I have an empty tank around here somewhere that can be used if breeding does happen. For now, not exactly sure if they are male/female pairs, just used the best guess. There is plenty of swimming space in the aquarium so I am not too worried about lack of space for a larger fish. Eventually I want a much larger tank and all of these guys can live in there (constantly scouting craigslist you know ha).

I just finished uploading pictures and will be going through them then posting them (if I can figure out how).
