I find that when my tank lights are off, and I shine a flashlight on (or turn on the tank lights) my German Blue Ram (female) that she is 'white' or 'pale', that is to say her black markings don't really appear at all. But in about 5 or so seconds after the light appears, her dark markings come back.

Anyone else experience this?

Maybe its just because she's not full grown yet?

Just an Interesting note.

The first cichlids kept in aquariums were commonly called "chameleon fish" because they show different colors/patterns according to environmental factors, mood, etc.
Many fish lose their bright colors at night; after all, nobody's looking at them in the dark.
