well, i gave in and bought 6 cardinal tetra's today from a petsmart. they did fine all the way home, got em in a bucket and started acclimting. after about a half hour of addign small amounts of water i noticed they weren't swiming anymore and their colors looked like they were fading. the water was ice cold when i felt it so i panicked and netted em into my tank and gave em some baby brine shrimp (big thanks to the guy who mentioned a wise ol fishkeeper friend did that). man, are they going nuts, they are gobbling down brineshrimp and racing all over the tank, chasing each other and just seem to be a having a grand old time.
now, that petsmart the people there don't seem to have a clue who are working the department, but the tanks are clean, good assortment and the fish seem active, lively and i saw no dead ones or signs of disease when i've been there so maybe theres someone on staff that knows what they are doing. so, I am hoping this works out and I didn't shock them to death. I gues we'll see how they are in a few days.
