Yep, he arrived today - safe and "somewhat" sound. I rather think I'm gonna be stuck with the poor lil dude(tte?) for a while!!

I got the distinct impression the tank was put in the car last night and "Fugs" got stuck in the bucket at the same time with no filter, no airstone, no nothing... And from the test I did they used tap water as well - I can only hope they added dechlorinator, I doubt it tho. :(

She owned up to not doing as many wc's as she should - one every couple of weeks, translation NOT OFTEN AT ALL!!!

Oh well, the tank seems ok and filters working!

Here's the pics:

(The tank shots haven't turned out well at all - too bright when I took the pics, so I'll have another go tomorrow!)

I think the poor fella (fellette??) has had a rather rough lil life - scales are missing and flaking, might have something to do with a minimum of 12 hours in a bucket tho. Tail fins are looking a little bit battered and all. I haven't 'tidied' the tank at all - I just wanted the fish out of that (ok I'll edit myself!! :uhoh: ) bucket ASAP!!

Guess I'm stuck with 'Fugly' for as long as it takes to get him/her healthy enough to give away - ARRRRRGHHHH  :irked: :shakehead: :wall:

Anyone want a goldfish?!! :thud:

*Goes back to dreaming bout what to put in the tank when "fugly" finds a nice pond to retire in*

I'd love you to get him too!! I know I never wanted him, but I DO want him to go to a 'nice' home and be well looked after! :)

He looks awfully cute. It's just a shame about his condition. I've kept goldfish before but never seen a condition similar to this one.

Poor goldfish seem to see no end of near-fatal abuse... hope s/he finds a good caring home

Hope you can pull him back into shape!

What is with people and goldfish? I just picked up a tank with two "freebie" blackmoores, once upon a time they must've been gorgeous, they now have torn fins, fungus and look rather glad to be in clean water. The owner did the same thing, packed the car the night before leaving the fish in a bucket, Ammonia levels were crazy, these were big goldies.

Good luck with your goldy, he looks like he has the potential to return to a beautiful fish.

I think he's beautiful! I like the white tips on the fins and tail. If New Zealand was a little closer to Iowa (US), I'd be really tempted to take him, but my 55 is stocked plenty with 3 goldies already.

i think all fish are quite beautiful in their own special way, and this little goldfish is no different. reminds me of the days i had my 2 wonderful red and white comets.

It's hard to tell how big he is from the pictures, but maybe you can swap your 10 or 15g tank. Put Fugly in one of those and move everyone else to the bigger tank. Just a thought. Maybe a bad idea due to his size, not really sure.
