Introduction

what wpg would you suggest? I just got the tank for free and light came with. i can't tell by looking at it. i want some live plants that will be somewhat easy to care for until i get better educated with the aquarium, etc.

Do you know what the watt is for your lighting? Divide it by the amount of water in your tank (30) IE: if you have 50 watts (divide it by 30) then your wpg would be 1.7. The quarantine tank can also work as your hospital tank if a fish gets sick and you want to keep an eye on it/make sure it's eating. Hope this helps :)

I would suggest java fern, java moss, most swort plants, anacharis, and anubius. They will do fine in most normal lighting and are pretty easy to take care of.

You are doing a great thing already by asking for help :) It means you really care for your fish and are trying to do as much as possible for them.

you've been a great help...once i have the watt issue figured out and learn what plants to put in, is there anything else i need to think about or do the plants just take care of themsevles.

Glad I could help! The plants I mentioned are great and a lot of them can be found from people on the site, under the classifieds section :) I would suggest anything in the 2's range. Plants need carbon dioxide. You can find plant "food" at many pet stores. What's good about aquarium plants is they provide oxygen for your fish, absorb chemicals harmful to your fish, and help with algae control.

I consider you a good person with a pure heart. Thank you for all your help and chat at ya later...when I have another silly question:]

Thank you very much :) I sent you a friend request just in case you have more :) I wish you lots of luck with your tank.
