Hi, I recently setup a 10 gallon planted tank. It has 28 watts of PC Light, and Hagen Co2. I have not tested my KH but I know I have hardwater at my house.

For some reason 2 of the guppies died (one looked like it was attacked by another male, the other I dunno what happened) but one had babies so now I have plenty of extras lol

I also have a Prego Ghost shrimp, This is one monster ghost shrimp in size, It was all over the tank a few days ago, and I had not sceen it yesterday, Today I found ti hiding somewhat under a piece of driftwood and I could see all the babies.

I have been using some plant supplements to get things going and one of them is Fe and Ke or something like that, the other is flourish excel. Could these supplements have killed my fish and will they hurt my mystery snails or shrimp.

What can I do to keep the ghost shrimp babies or are they food?

1 Week and everything is multiplying!

I have been dosing Iron but not very much I have not sceen any affects on the shrimp yet, and my mystery snails seem very happy, if only one was a girl im sure they would be prego also...

FWIW you really should not use a CO2 system unless you have a KH/GH test kit.

As for the Fe, we don't know how much you are putting in or what your iron levels are, so it's rather hard to say.

If possible can you test for all of this and post the results? I don't think anyone can help you without that information.

From What I have heard Fe tests don't work well, the guy at the LFS recomended I dose though, but I have not been putting as much as recomended in the water. All my Inverts seem VERY happy right now, shrimp was not prego before. So how do I test for KH is it another whole testing kit?

I went to the shop today but did not think the KH HG would be $10 so I'm going to go to another pet store tomarrow to get it.

Not sure how to test for Fe, should I stop adding it to my tank?

I was going to add some cuttle bone to my tank to raise the PH and help the snails how do I know how much to add and how should I add it? I have a whisper 10i for the filter??

if you want to dose anything, i suggest building up to your desired level. Alot of things that would shock and kill an aquatic organism can be tolerated over an adequate adjustment period. You could have guppys that have been living in 5 yr old water, no water changes, just new filter media every 6 months. But, drop an fish store guppy in the tank and it would die within 2 or 3 hours.
