I'm going to get a Fire Shrimp and some Iodine pretty soon. I have to dose the tank with Iodine to help him molt correctly right? Should I get one or two shrimps and should I get different shrimp or both Fire Shrimps? i've read conficting info....ThANKS!

No, you dont need to dose the tank with iodine. As long as you have a good water change routine ( i always suggest 10% weekly ), there will be adequate ammounts of iodine in the water column. Always remember that if you do dose any additives, endure you have a test kit that matches...

What other shrimp are you concidering buying?

Niko

oh really? hmm, well I guess I saved some money on Iodine then... thanks.

I don't know. I wasn't dead set on another shrimp other then the Fire Shrimp. Thats the one I really want. But hmmm...

Peppermint shrimp or a Banded Coral Shrimp (I heard they can be kinda bossy sometimes), or another Fire Shrimp

What would be best if any?

i would think that the cleaner would be best, then another fire, then the CBS.
cbs is going to fight with it, another fire might if the tank is too small, and a cleaner really shouldn't mess with it.

personally, i would have a pair of fire shrimps..your tank is more than adequate for them..

Niko

yeah, that would be pretty wicked. I read that Fire Shrimps are more likely to be out in the open and active if there is a pair... any truth to this?

would the fire shrimp threaten my featherdusters/other inverts hermits etc?

no they tend to get killed by other things more often really. i add iodine to my tank and have seen it effect the corals very nicely. having it just a bit higher than the ocean makes things look spectacular as well as brings out color in my shrimp. just remember test for what u add.
