Iodized Salt?

meh, I suggest using kosher salt, most small granule table salt is NOT sodium chloride, believe me, I killed off a bunch of lil brine shrimp in my 1g brine shrimp tank...

Just about any quality source of salt, in low concentrations, will have no real negative impact to freshwater invertebrates. I do advocate using higher temps (~85F) when using salt to cure ich, as it reduces the amount of time it takes to kill off the parasite. IMO, the quicker the problem is resolved, the better.

I use normal table salt (noniodized), but I wouldn't think the iodine would be harmful. Actually, I dose iodine weekly in my tanks for the shrimp. They use iodine when molting and regrowing their exoskeleton. I don't know if salt itself is safe for shrimp though. I use noniodized because I prefer knowing how much iodine I'm putting into my tanks.

In actuality, the ability of iodine to improve molting, of any species of freshwater shrimp, is a myth. I've read articles, and conversed with people, that have studied crustaceans for decades. They state that there is no evidence that iodine has any beneficial properties, that enable shrimp to molt.

OhNo123, good luck curing your ichy fish!
