Iron and Brush algae

Green water sometimes messes with folks for a while after. Just run that UV after the water change for a day or two and keep after the BBA through trimming and bleching/H2O2ing any equipment that gets any on it. If you remove it and then re set the tank, it virtually never comes back if you keep the conditions you have.
The PO4 is nowhere near the concentrations needed to effect the buffering system in your tank BTW. Some one say something who does not know any better when applying it to planted tanks says something and it gets embedded into dogma. Yes, at high levels but not these low levels of PO4.

The two biggest issues for folks with algae: CO2 and NO3. These will burn you more than any.

You just need experience and know how far you can trim and hack the plants back etc. If your tank is full of Anubias etc, well that makes for a great place for BBA and other algae to grow. Folks never want to trim their Anubias. But I've gotten rid of it in my Anubias tanks also.

Thanks Tom. Do you mean not enough CO2 and too much NO3? Or not enough of either.

Thanks for holding my hand through this painful process. :)

Naw,
That's like having a nice dog house without the dog.........

I doubt there'd be many folks keeping plants if it were not for thr fish getting them into this in the first place, myself included.
