i just recently am on the downslope of fighting off some ick, thanks to all for the great advice and the reading that i've done here! my question is now on my irridecent shark. he seems "cracked" i know this is a strange description, but it seems as if he is shedding almost. he acts fine, but his skin just looks weird. like i said, its almost as if he's shedding the current skin that he's got. i'm curious if he has some kind of infection or if this is normal for this type of fish. thanks.

I'm not sure. How long has your tank been up and running? Have you cycled already? What are your water parameters (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate)?

my tank has been up since around feb 2. i used a fishy cycle and currently have the following based on the test strip (i know, i need a better test kit) nitrate shows around 10 ppm, nitrite at 0 ppm, hardness at 25 (very soft), alkalinity at 80ppm, and ph at 7.2. i dont have anything to check the ammonia with right now. i'm using a penguin bio wheel 350 with dual bio wheels, and have added 110 tsp of salt in accordance with my current outbreak of ick. i also have had the temp set at around 84-86 for the last 3 to 4 days. all the other fish, including the ick infected ones seem to be doing just fine. and the shark "seems" fine except for the skin thing. thanks again for all the help
