is 5 days too early?

I assume you didn't QT them? Then I'd wait at least four weeks.

Yeah...There are multiple reasons to wait for adding fish. Letting the biological filter catch up and settle down is one, but ensuring that you have healthy stock is a big one. Adding more fish when you don't know the current batch are healthy is just begging for trouble.
