Bought an aqua C remora pro skimmer and looked inside and said to themselfs.... why did i pay over 200 dollars for something that looks alot like different angels of plastic that i could maybe build myself?

Nope, I knew what I was getting when I shelled out the $ for my remora. Have you seen any other skimmers? They are all just $10 in plastic. After using the Remora compared to my 3 previous skimmers, there just isnt a comparison.

yeah but i have never used a skimmer before, only freswater so when i saw it i was like... wow thats it?

also, i kinda exagarated i got the remora pro from some guy that needed to tear down and sell his tank IMMEDIATLY for 80 dollars, but the only thing it only had a rio 1000 how important is it to have the rio 1400 i can totaly see that it works just fine, the only reason it came with the 1000 is becasue he said he used the 1400 as a return pump and already sold his tank/sump with it included. tell me what you think?

I've never used the remora so I couldnt say, you have to judge it by the preformance of the skimmer. With that said underpowered pumps are probably one of the main reasons for poor skimmer preformance. I would set it up and see how it does over time. Dont be shocked tho if you end up needing a stronger pump

It shouldn't be too expensive to buy the right pump. Just don't buy anything bigger. I read plenty of reports of the Mag3 people get with the Remora Pro being too powerful and filling the collection cup quickly. You already got a steal on the skimmer. I just paid $170 for my non pro Remora last month but I love it and was worth every penny.

well i have only run it for less than a day and there is already waste in the cup, so i think thats a good sign that its working right?

oh there is barley any in there just enough to cover the bottom... so you think I should get the 1400, which its supposed to come with?

That is an indication it is underpowered if your only getting that much. Now keep in mind you have to let it run for about a week before you can really start to judge the performance. If it were me, I would definately buy the 1400. I would not go with the mag3 though.
