I Have once again failed to start my Fluval 404 filter (3 months old) its going back to the shop and staying there this time.

I am looking for an external filter for a 350lt 77gal uk.

Having read up it seems my first choice Eheim, can be differcut to prim as well, so have looked at Rena XP3 which seems will do the job but I can't find any reviews on it. Anyone running one..........

Thanks mike

I haven't used a Rena, but have you looked at Magnum Canister filters? I run a Magnum 350 pro my 29 gal (us) FW planted tank and an extremely happy with that. It's rated for tanks up to 100 gal. Althougth if you're going to use it for SW I'd just get the regular model without the bio wheels. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Product/Prod_Display.cfm?pcatid=3595&inm=1&N=2004+22777+113565 Take a look at it. Easy to clean, self priming, easy to operate, and it's quiet too.

used one as only filter on a 55 gal cichlid tank worked great no problems in 8 months. Built diy wet/dry so the rena just does mechanical filtration and keeps the water crystal clear.

I've been using an XP2 (almost the same) for about a year without incident. Awesome filter. Now, I'm not sure how it compares to others, but I certainly haven't been dissapointed with my Filstar, either.
