i have a black light, light bulb was wandering if i could put it on my fish tank and have it on at night? will it hurt my fish? :thud:

It won't hurt yuor fish, but I wouldn't keep it on at night just because it's still too bright. You could make some DIY moonlights though if yuo want lights on at night.

thanks

THank you for the advice

You need a certain wavelength from an LED light bulb. I've heard of certain poeple using 1 christmas light, but I don't think that would have the right wavelength.

There was a thread about it a little while ago in the DIY section (I believe the name of the thread was DIY moonlight.) There's some good info there. Besides, I don't think they're that expensive to buy.

They're fun to have though!

I would never do this considering how insanely quickly Blacklights become super hot, they can cause 2nd degree burns.. so that temperature would translate into your water.. and / or you could crack the piece of glass on your hood that seperates it from the light and water.. or blow the bulb, crack the glass.. water + electricity = bad :)
