Is Excel the type of additive that once you add it, the tank will forever have it in its system, like with copper? I had been dosing Excel to my tank, but have since stopped.

I ask because I am considering adding Vals to my planted tank and I know that Vals hate Excel, so will all the Excel be gone after a couple weeks' worth of water changes, or is it a lingering type of thing?

Thanks.

I don't think so

The plants concume excel so it wont last. I have corkscrew vals and don't have a problem using excel with that variety.

That 's really good since Excel tends to melt vals.To the original poster, I really think that several water changes will take care of the problem.

Depends on how much you does. Excel melted almost all of my Vals a few months ago, but they have re-grown with a vengence.
