A friend of mine has a lot, A LOT lol of convict fry and hes been looking to give them away and he said I should feed them to my fish that are big enough to eat them, so is fry good for them at all? or is it just something to fill their stomachs with?

If they have yolk sacs yet, well they do contain proteins. Depending on the foods you give them, the fry may or may not be nutritious at all.

the fry are full of protein..that is about all unlees you spike their diet.
so depending on the species you feed them to they will provide protein.

outside of that you should still continue regular fishfood and use the fry as a treat.
you do need to be cautios that the fry are not transporting pathogens from the other tank tho
