Whatever it is, three days of ethromycin haven't bothered it in the least. It's in patches between the glass and the soil, as well as covering the driftwood, where it is almost impossible to remove, unlike the algae that I clean off of the glass elsewhere in the tank every week. Are there certain characteristics of blue green algae that distinguish it from other forms?

BGA smells like a swamp and it sloughs off easily in sheets. Sometimes it has an iridescent sheen. It usually looks like it's been draped over the things in your tank, unlike other algae that looks like it sprouted.

Sounds like you do not have BGA.

Sorry, not very good with picture technology, but from what I'm hearing I guess it's not BG algae. It's not at all slimey and sheetlike. Thanks for the help.

get a pic it could be bba, but without a pic its hard to say
