Is it natural for cory cats to hide?

My pepper and bandit corys don't care about where they are.
Night or day, they just sit out in the open; they really don't care if they are exposed or not.
How long have you had them?
Maybe they are still trying to get acclimated to the new surroundings?

I've only had them for a couple weeks now. So maybe that's why..

Yeah, try giving them a couple more weeks to get comfortable.
If you're doing a lot of water changes or adding chemicals, that might upset them too.

I have nicknamed my group of 5 cories "The Flying Cats" because there are 3 of them at any one time swimming up stream in the current. They remind me of watching the Blue Angels as a kid at the Air Show.

For bottom dwellers, mine sure spend a good portion of their day up in the zone I had reserved for the danios and gouramis. Nothing like a fish to mess up a perfectly good human's plans.

The only chemicals I've added is a tiny bit of flourish and when doing water changes, I've been using Kordon NovAqua and Amquel Plus. Actually according to the bottles it says to use the two Kordon products together for water conditioning, but is it really necessary?
