Ok so two of my cons have paired off and are now digging a hole in the rocks Im guessing to lay eggs:headbang2: my question is at this time is it ok to do a water change? the water is looking hazy and at about this time I do a 25% change. I dont want to disturb there "nest". this is the first time they have mated and I want them to have a smooth ride into parenthood.:grinyes:

ps I cant spell.

Yea you can do a w/c but dont disturb their nest.

if you do a water change, either skip the gravel vac, or don't vac near that area.

hard to go wrong with cons.
I moved a pair out of 55 to a 10 to save them from
a large Red devil.
I planned on moving to a bigger tank when.....
you guessed they laid eggs.
The next day ! :perv:
no gravel in 10 only their little cave.
now they are stuck with at least a 100 fry !
:)

Water changes induce spawning. When I do my routine water changes on my 44g tank my pair of firemouths go crazy with courtship. Doesnt always mean they'll spawn but they love it. So I incourage everyone to do their routine weekly waterchanges, especially if you have a pair of fish who appear to be spawning, it helps with everything.

I agree that it is hard to wrong with cons. They are one of the most resilient fish I have ever seen. I think if I took a pair out and laid them on the floor they would probably have fry one more time before going to the big tank in the sky.

Do the water change.

in my dads 125g we have a breeding pair on cons and cubans we just vac around there homes.
