Intelligence of potential food aside, I don't eat a LOT of fish due to concerns for mercury.
Here's one site:

Although I take the info on this site with a grain of salt (and a dash of pepper!), mercury is a BIG deal. Here in Missouri, the problems used to be with bioaccumulation of pesticides in the fatty tissues. Mercury accumulates in the muscles, and now there is a state-wide recommendation concerning eating ANY fish you catch. Only eat so much a week, if you're pregnant or a child, eat little if any...etc.
So, no big catfish (chemical issues with fish farming aside) due to pesticides in the fatty tissues, no long-lived predators because of mercury.
Pacific Salmon is supposed to be fairly safe, and I eat it about once a week or so. The populations are doing alright too, I hear. Atlantic salmon populations are troubled, if I remember correctly.
