Is it possible to...

My pH straight out of my tap dechlored is 7 Intially. My tank pH is always at around 7.6 to 7.8 after a few hours. I set a bucket of dechlored water out for a couple hours it also rose to 7.6. I keep a Bolivian Ram and two GBRs. I do 35-50% water changes weekly, so far my fish have been fine. Showing no ill effect of a small pH swing usually it goes down slightly to 7.4 or 7.6 immediatly after my weekly water change.

The acclimation to the new water can be done in a few hours without a hitch. So doing it as 10-20% every couple of days would be even safer than that. In other words, you are not facing any challenges, problems or even worthwhile concerns. Just do it.

Ok thanks...just checking.

I don't understand the rush with daily water changes. Why not just use tap water in your regular weekly changes. That would give them weeks to acclimatize.

Stupid question - what's a GBR?

Because for a year now they have been living in different water. Idk, I just wanted to make sure.
