Its a 55 gallon with wood(Oak?) base and canopy top, light and filter(emperor 450?).

It needs some TLC and has a few bumps in the cherry finished wood. The owner is cleaning it up now.

$200.

Whatcha think?

With the stand, hood, and filter that seems reasonable.

I just bought 4 10gal, a 5.5gal, a 3gal ecplipse, a really old 10gal long (30x7x12) plus a box of misc. stuff (powerheads, air pumps, HOB, gang valves, ect) for $25. Gotta love garage sales.

Yea, if the tank is in good shape it certainly is worth it. A set up like that purchased retail would cost at least double that amount.

I have seen better deals and I have seen worse. in my area with craigslist.com I have seen them for $100-150. But it is all relative. I don't think you would be getting ripped off, and if there are no other deals in your area then it is the best deal in town.

I'd think you were getting a good deal. Of course if your whole house is decorated in oak like mine is, maybe not such a good deal :)

If the tank and the filter are still in good working conditions, then these 2 item alone will cost you that much if bought new. It is a good deal. You can always touch up the wood yourself. That is an easy project.

yes, but if you go to jan's tropical fishstore in romulus MI you can get a complete 55g setup for $180, although I'm not sure what kind of filter it has or if it comes with a stand.
