Is it really necessary to not add the Fish Store water into the aquarium????

I mean......if they've got corals and anenomes and inverts in their tanks, they can't be using copper can they?

I would never add LFS water to any of my tanks unless it was absolutely necessary...as in the case of transferring a starfish, sponge, etc. They have so much livestock going through those tanks that the risk of transferring parasites/diseases is far to high. Copper would actually be the least of my worries.

Yep--I am much more concerned about a parasite or disease than copper. Even with animals that can't come out, I do my best to minimize the amount of store water that my goes into my tank--acclimating by adding my water, til I've doubled the volume, remove half, repeat. After 3-4 rounds of this, I figure there's less than 1/4 the LFS water present, and I still am careful when pulling the animal out to release as little water as possible.

I somewhat disagree here Orion. I do try not to get the water into the tank but I question how important this is due to the fact the fish has been in that small volue for 15-30 depending on the drive. If there were parasites if the water they are most probably on the fish now.

I think this is why it is so important to quarantine.

Sorry--that acclimation is the one I use for animals that can't be taken out of the water, few of which will carry a parasite. Quarantining everything that can be is the best route, but I still prefer not to introduce the store water--but for fish, it's easier.

Yep. Same process, though most are okay being removed from the water to transfer from the bag to the tank.
