I have a question about possible columnaris. One of my otos has a tiny red streak on its abdomen, and one of the tetras has a round white patch on its abdomen, about 5mm around, the patch seems to be slightly raised and pinkish underneath, does not appear to be fuzzy, like fungus would be, also the base of its tail is swollen and has tiny white patches on it, and is beginning to swim in a jerky motion. Everyone is eating normally, and behaving normally, except for the neon.
If I am correct, I believe the Maracyn instructions say that the biofilter won't be affected if used as directed. I need to know if this is safe to use with otos and will it in fact, trash the biofilter? I have read that it wont, I have read that it will.....I already have 2 fish in QT, so I don't really have a place to put other sick fish. I would like to treat the whole tank, as there seems to be an ongoing problem, despite 30% wc twice weekly. Not to mention, neons are virtually impossible to catch! They are all fed a variety of foods.
Tank specs
10 gal moderately planted
temp 80, pH 7, KH 4, ammonia and nitrites 0, nitrate about 10.
