Hi everyone,
I have a 10g tank with an Aquatech(i think :( ) 5-15 filter and I was planning to put a betta in, but I'm hoping the filter isn't too strong for one. My tank is lightly planted, with 2 small decorations/hiding places and I am soon going to buy alot more plants. I could up the water level?

it should be fine I had the exact same filter on a ten gallon with a male betta and he seemed just fine.

I'm sure he will be happoer in the 10 gallon then a 1 quart bowl

hehe I am happy to rescue a cup-dweller :)

Isn't aquatech the same as whisper 5-15?

(well... that was the old numbering system, but isn't it the same filter?)

Anyway, yes the filter should be fine. Any healthy fish should be able to handle a box power filter provided it is rated for your tank and the fish isn't trying to breed, etc.

Actually, it's made by Marineland..but, yeah, same Idea... so I think it's just a penguin minus the biowheel... at least that's what mine looks like.

I agree with the others, it'll be fine for a betta.

Cool.

now for these third party companies to get lost. I am so sick of all the off brands which do the same thing.

I know. It's really ridiculous, but, at least we've got plenty of choices .

One thing I would suggest is that if the betta has been in a very small cup for a while, it will not be a strong swimmer at first. You may want to but it in a larger bowl for a few days so that it can get its "swimming strength" back.
