Is my fm guppy sick?

She seems to be doing a lot better! She still looks labored in breathing, but no longer has difficulty swimming. I've just kept up on WCs and kept the lights off. I haven't salted the tank (i have shrimp so I'm wary), but I might tomorrow if she's still struggling with breathing.

OMG I think saving her will be entirely hopeless. I have been reading a ton online and am pretty sure she (and soon my other babies) have Ichthyophonus hoferi. The disease is carried by snails/copepods (like seed shrimp) and is usually called "Swinging disease" or "tumbling disease."

"- This is an internal fungal disease that attacks the organs of the fish causing them to waste away. The intestines, ovary, and liver are infected. The females die first as the ovaries seem to be attacked first. The disease is contracted by eating contaminated fishfood, or the feces of affected fish. The disease is not treatable! All affected fish must be destroyed and their tanks thoroughly disinfected."-http://ppga.tripod.com/diseasesart.html

My two females are no longer gravid and are losing their colors and weight. My males are fine, as are the black chin livebearer male/female. I am going to quaranteen the two females in another tank and salt them/look into other treatments or euthanasia. Maybe I should have done this a long time ago, but Natasha appeared to be improving.

Have you checked your PH level? Guppies need a high PH level i.e. 7.2-7.6 they will love you for it. I've had lot's of guppies over the years and they thrive in water with a slight high PH, their colors are more vivid, they eat better, breed better. Another thing how many male guppies do you have in the tank?, I've learn over time is not good to have to many males and not enought females, they will literaly kill them from wanting to mate all the time. Hope you guppie get's better, they are a lot of fun to have and watch.

Natasha died :( She didn't respond to any treatment (salt or antifungal). It looked similar to anorexia or TB...her spine kind of curved and she didn't gain any weight. When I fed her I saw her eat...but I'm sure the nutrients went to her disease instead of her tummy.

On the brightish side, my other female guppy Smirnoff is great! I don't think she was sick to begin with...as she never "tumbles", she has a gravid spot (I think I was being paranoid at first), eats, poos, swims around like a normal guppy. I monitor their tank a lot. Everyone looks fine.

So new question: Smirnoff is stuck with two male guppies. Will this be ok? They never seem to harass her...but who knows what goes on when I'm not watching. Should I get more fm guppies? Should I keep Smirnoff by herself in one of my new 5 gallons?

One question how many males to females are in your tank, in the video she was looking stressed from being harassed by males which can lead to very poor health

There's 2 males and now 1 female guppy. It's a 20 gallon high tank with lots of plants...but not too many nooks and crannies
