is my tank overstocked?

It may not be overstocked, but man, you're sitting on a time bomb. That dwarf puffer is small now but when he is a little bigger he'll be a nippnig nightmare and highly intolerant of tankmates. Dwarf Puffers have been known to take on fish larger than themselves and win. The Pleco, if it is a common, will eventually outgrow that tank.

The cats are bothersome to me. When you say ghost cats, do you mean Ghost Banjo Catfish? Also, Upside down cats like schools, as would your cories. Finally, when you say frogs, what kind do you mean?

actually it is a fully grown female puffer she is very timid, i returned a male long ago because he was very aggressive. so no prob there.

the pleco is a year old got him as a baby doesnt seem to be getting much bigger but i can always trade him to the lfs and start over w/ another baby, they love having huge plecos to sell. no prob there

not sure what the cats are glass catfish was the only other name i could find
seem full grown at 2" chill all day long under the shade of my amazon

off-a-slice, the upside down cat is my g/fs fish, she only wants one so she knows who he is. I would like to get a school of them going but he seems happy, chills on the underside of the amazon eating all day and swims around at night.

the cories seem happy. they just hang out together and search the gravel for food all day

frogs are african dwarfs

-Gouramis are all dwarf and different types have one of each of neon blue, powder blue and fire and would like to add 2 of each type i currently have

"would like to" that is why im asking though

Not necessarily. Depends on the puffer. I have my 2 with my South American tank and the only problem has been with the cory's. So I moved those to my 10 gallon. Granted I have only had them for 6 months so im not sure if you would consider them Adults yet....but so far no issues with any other fish.

Just going by what I've heard from people that are very into them. Most folks keep dwarf puffers in species only tanks. The only acceptable tankmates I know of for certain are otocinculs and shrimp.

neon blue, powder blue, and fire are all simply colour variants of the dwarf gourami (colisa lalia). They're all males, too- nobody except breeders want the dingy coloured females. Adding more would be borrowing trouble- even in comparatively large tanks, they still will beat on each other in territorial bouts, and some will go beyond just claiming territory and just beat on any gourami they can find. If you have 3 in there already, I'd add less territorial fish instead, so as not to disrupt the gourami peace agreement you seem to have.

Ghost or Glass Catfish can get up to 6", so keep that in mind.

If anything, I'd add some more cories and tetras... I love seeing them in action.

Yes I have read that as well and its probobly the safer way to go. But if Ottos and Shrimp are ok.....im sure there are many other species that DPs will do ok with.

Yes but they take a looong time to do so...I have had 5 for over 2 years in my 55 gallon and the biggest one is 3''

I had two in a 29 gallon for almost a year with no aggression issues, then one of them snapped and started beating up on the other one relentlessy. I had to remove one of them or it would have been killed eventually.

ive always figured it would be better to have 1 or 3+ of any male fish because if there is only 2 the dominant fish will have only 1 other fish to boss around. w/ a single he is dominant. w/ 3 or more the dominant has atleast 2 fish to spread the abuse to, and changes in rank can occur much more easily.

i like watching the little power struggles as long as no one is getting hurt its all good.

i figure the gouramis would be grateful to leave the 10g lfs prison, stocked w/ 20 of there fellow species, and stretch their fins in my tank. and i have no problem w/ returning trouble fish.
