Is the aqua-tech power filter any good?

As long as you don't overstock your tank then that filter should work fine. Actually I beleive that the filter you have is rated for up to a 30 gallon tank. Also if I remember right it filters about 170 gallons per hour (GPH). So if you do the math on that one then your water gets filtered about 8 times an hour. You should be in goos shape as long as you take care of the tank.

Good luck on the new tank.

Except most times the rated gph is an empty filter and not one stuffed with media.

Most agree that if its says 200 gph that its actually closer to 100 gph after media is added.

Its always better to run 2 filters, if one craps out you still have filtration keeping the fish alive until you can get another filter.

The Aqua Tech that is included in the kit for 20 gallon tanks is the 10-20 which pumps 120 gph. I have a Whisper/Top Fin 30 and an Aqua Tech 20-40 on my 20 gallon tank. I run the Top Fin on low all the time. I believe that if you have a BIO-Wheel, the flow rate is okay at 5 times an hour.

My vote is, run the powerfilter in conjunction with an Undergravel Filter. Put the powerfilter intake in the intake tube of the UGF.
I did this w/ a home-made PVC manifold on the Wally World 10gal. Also did a bigger one on my 100gal going into a Magnum 350.

Good picture, Native American. Have almost similar set up on several tanks, but connect the Mag 350 so the the plates are RUGF.

You can turn your Aqua Tech into a Bio Wheel. All you need to do is use the chart below and buy the bio wheel, bearings, bracket, and lid. The lid is not a necessity.

Aqua Tech 5-15- Penguin BIO-Wheel Mini
Aqua Tech 10-20- Penguin BIO-Wheel 125
Aqua Tech 20-40- Penguin BIO-Wheel 170
Aqua Tech 30-60- Penguin BIO-Wheel 330*

*Note: Penguin BIO-Wheel 330 and Aqua-Tech 30-60 use TWO (2) BIO-Wheels and will need 2 of everything mentioned above.

Does anyone know what the gph is for the aquatech 30-60? I have two of them for my 55 gal. I want to be sure that is enough.

aqua tech is a crappy filter.go with a aquaclear trust me.
