Is the lighting enough?

Riccia or crystal wort is suppose to be a high light CO2 needing type plant, but it might do ok if left floating. Glosso is going to grow tall if it thrives at all in such a low light tank. Water wisteria is said to need a lot of light, but you could get watersprite that looks like wisteria but can do better under lower light. The anubias and java moss are fine. Cryptcorynes and java fern are some good low light plants.

ok, Ive revised my list to java fern, java moss, anubia nana, crystal wort (Im gonna try:)) and possibly wilsii crypt. I have a small piece of water wisteria and it seems to be getting new roots, but im not sure if there new, Ill have to get back to you on that one if it survives. But Im still wondering if the 2700K will be enough for my tank.

It might be I'm not really sure about whether the plants could use the light spectrum offered from those lights as well as daylight bulbs. However, you could try it might work just fine.

Its worth a try, the watts of the flourescent light are more than 1 watt per litre so Im thinking that the plants will do just fine, I hope. Im probably going to come back and report how the plants are doing, another time. The aquarium looks much brighter with this new light, than it did before when it had an incandescent light in it. Its even brighter than my 5 gal tank that has an 8 watt flourescent light in it, Im looking to upgrade the lighting when I can find a light that will fit that is at least 13-15watts. Its pretty hard to find that kind when the length of the light tube has to be a 16in, and two pronged on both sides. Oh well, the light will have to stay, I was wondering if anyone has used the GE compact flourescent light (T2 model) and has successfully had a planted tank?

well, today I just added a melon sword to my 2.5 gal if it outgrows it I will trim it and put it in another bigger aquarium. I also got some Java Fern, and 2 anubia nana. I have placed the 2 anubias on a piece of driftwood along with the Java ferns, the sword is in the gravel and I plan to fertilize them in about 2 days. Also I was wondering about how long I should inject the CO2 or how low of a pH should I have when I want to stop injecting the CO2? b/c my dp is always gasping for air if I leave it in for only about an hr.

CO2 should be constant. You can't just put it in and take it out constantly. I don't think you should bother with it in such a small tank. Especially since you say you fish is having problems. Perhaps, you could get some Flourish excel instead. It shouldn't cost too much since you'll use less in a smaller tank.

i agree excel is the way to go.

oh thanks, then Im gonna stop injecting it, too bad ... I made such a good injector that actually works. It has been going for like 10 days and is still bubbling furiously, but that takes alot of pressure off the need to inject the CO2. Both me and my fish are probably going to be alot happier, I hope I can find tsome of this wonder tonic. Does the flourish excel have all the nutrients that the pplants are going to need including iron and potassium?
