is there a natural way of making water slightly acid?

I have driftwood in the tank about 2 weeks old now. It's a Swahala driftwood that I got from Drs Foster & Smith. I do have live plants in the tank and CO2 did come into mind while reading up on plants here on the board. Now I might just go ahead and make me one of those DIY CO2 reactors.

How much impact does it make as far as lowering pH? Also, I have a small powerhead pointed up towards the surface right now for surface agitation. Do I have to redirect that when doing CO2 injection? I also use a canister filter.
surface agitation will disperse your CO2, yes redirect

pH 7.6? Short of RO/DI water conditioned with whatever, if you are using tap water, you are looking at peat, a water-softener pillow in the filter (ion-exchange), or a pH-Down product which is based on hydrochloric, sulphuric acid, or bisuphate salts, but they will only temporarily work.
Absolute IDEAL conditions tend to implicate very costly measures, the likes of which most of us can't afford to pursue, especially if you insist on using tap water, and it is hard.
Eliminate tank contents as the culprit first (collected rocks; any shells;etc.).
If the tank is planted, CO2 injection with electronic controllers/bubble counters are the way to go by controlling CO2 input, otherwise you are limited in your options.
Phoshate buffers cause a multitude of problems.
Many peeps think that that they can manipulate ideal CO2 conditions by manipulating pH and KH by chemical means, but it just does NOT work, no matter what product you use.
I could elaborate on the science, but better yet, take my word for it.

PH down products should not be used. THe natural bufers in the water will counter the effect quickly using this product.

With proper acclimaitization, most fish will be OK in a higher ph.

co2 will drop your PH

Would prefer you to explain it..:)

I got plants now so I think it will benefit be good for both the fish and the plants if I introduce a little CO2 even just the DIY kind.
