Is there anything else than string?

The pond with some Triops
I already wreaked havoc in my fish tank (extra, extra! a giant hand has tore up the tropical city!) by taking out the driftwood and trying to attatch the java fern on it, only to realize that my pond snail got active again and ripped the tread apart (as usual)... I want to try rubberband but i think it'll be too tight. how else can i attatch java fern to my driftwood? I want something easy, not like fishing line where you have to take it out later...

Fishing line is the absolute best choice. But I have never had to tie anything.

I have found that I can always locate a a little rift in the driftwood - some little jagged spot or what not where I can kind of shove the rhizome and have the fern stay anchored with nothing at all. The roots take over soon enough.

See if you can find a way to just kind of shove the java fern into place.

I like using rubberbands. Mainly because by the time the java fern is attached the band usually starts to decay and then it breaks. Then you just have to fish the rubberband out of the tank. Easy as.

I use Rubberbands too. You don't need to wrap it around the leafy part of the plant, just wrap it around some of the roots. The roots are the part that attaches to the other surface. When the rubberband breaks, the plant should be attached to the rock, driftwood etc.

why take the fishing line out? it's inert and mostly invisible. I've never removed mine and nothing suffered. If you're concerned with looks, use fluorocarbon line. berkely vanish is pretty good, but there are lots of options. It has the same refractive properties as water so it "vanishes" under water. Use thin stuff (2 or 4lb. ) and you'll never see it again.

Best of luck!

i use zip ties.
it doesnt realy have to super tight or anything, jsut cut it off when theyre attached
