is there anyway to switch tanks?

with out losing your cycle? what if i got a bigger tank, used the same gravel, filter, water, EVERYTHING. i tryed it before, and somehow my ph shot up to 8.8 when i went from a 20 to a 30, no fish died tho thank god, but now i have more awsome fish, is it too risky? is the only way to do it, to set it up next to it and let it cycle before switching?

If the water you use is the same in the new tank then it shouldn't be a problem. Just make sure to not add any new fish to the new tank while things are settling. Use the same filter, gravel and any decorationsand plants and it should be fine. Match temp and even use the old tank water with new water added to top it off is what I would do. Should work out fine, it is what I did for a 5 to a 20 gallon move.

We did it with from an 80 gallon to a 125 gallon without problems. We used most of the 80 gallon water and one of the canister filters (not cleaned) for the switch... Keep the temps about the same..

I moved a 90 gallon to another room easily in one day with a couple of big garbage cans to hold the contents. Little bit of thinking and it'll go fine- a pump to move the water is most helpful

I took everything from my 10g (gravel, filter, etc) and put it into my new 30, and my new tank didn't have to go through a cycle because I seeded it heavily. You could do the same, just put all your old gravel and your old filter cartridges in and you'll be all set as long as you don't had a whole lot to your current fish load.
